Apple Crumble Pie

I adapted this recipe from my apple pie one (which I didn't post but you get it). I found some green apples lying around my mum's fridge and thought, I MIGHT AS WELL MAKE AN APPLE PIE OUT OF THEM. So yeah, apple pie it is :DDDD but I added crumbles to the top to make it into a apple crumble so hehe

What you'll need ( this makes an 8" pie):

Pie crust:

150g of All Purpose Flour

20g white sugar

70g cold salted butter (cut into small pieces)

6 tbsp cold water

-Mix your flour, sugar and butter together

-Slowly squish your butter together with the flour and sugar, periodically adding a tbsp of cold water in.

-Your dough don't have to be pretty. Just squish them together until combined into a dough. It can still have streaks of butter or flour still visible.

-DO NOT KNEAD IT. I REPEAT DO NOT KNEAD THE DOUGH.

-Wrap it in a cling wrap and put it inside of the fridge for about 30 minutes while you prepare your apple filling.

Apple Filling:

4 big green granny smith apples (like I'm talking gigantic ones) - chopped into small cubes or you want to slice them its up to you

1/2 cup of brown sugar

1/2 tsp cinnamon

2 tbsp salted butter

2 tbsp cornstarch

2 tbsp water

- Cut your apples and put them in a pan and add it your sugar, cinnamon and butter. Give it a little mix and put over low heat while continuously stirring until your sugar and melted is well dissolved.

- Cook until the apples are slightly transparent.

- Mix your cornstarch and water together to form a slurry and then pour it into your apples. Continue on cooking until it thickens up.

- Remove from heat and let cool

Crumble:

60g cold butter

65g All Purpose Flour

80g Brown Sugar

1/2 tsp cinnamon

- Mix all three together and squish them with your hands. Don't squish them too hard, just lightly until your butter is completely combined together with your flour and sugar. Make sure that it's still crumbly and not kneaded into a dough form.

Assemble:

Roll your dough out evenly and about 2cm thin and place it into your baking tin. Make sure that all the sides and bottom is covered. Cut off the remaining dough that is hanging outside of the pan and pour your apples in.

Move your apples around until it's even on all sides. Sprinkle the crumbles on top of the apples until fully covered.

Bake at 200°C for 15 minutes and then turn it down to 190°C and continue baking for another 20 minutes.

And THERE YOU HAVE IT. APPLE CRUMBLE PIE 🥧 🫶
